SR I [10-1958] First lens series. Undervariations:
i) smallest aperture changed from f/22 of first version(s) to f/16;
ii) stop down lever (SDL) added (mid '61);
iii) lack of light value (LV) numbers on aperture ring (mid '62);
iv) lack of aperture lock (AL);
v) half stops (HS) on aperture ring;
vi) black bayonet flange with standard lenses for black camera bodies;
vii) chrome or black mounting ring (cMR or bMR) with pre-set lenses;
viii) 'JAPAN' or 'LENS MADE IN JAPAN' on lens barrel (BR, earlier) or front ring (FR, later).
SR II [06-1965] Compact series with 52mm filter mount (only the 2.8/135mm kept the 55mm). Black front ring and diamond aperture/focus index. Undervariations: presumably none.
MC I [04-1966] First MC series, just added meter coupling pin. Metal focus grip with convex knurling (Auto Rokkor style, called long or large grip). Chrome aperture ring.
Most lenses apart from standard lenses got two orange focal length markings (FLM), one next to the DOF scale and another one at the opposite side of the lens barrel.
MC II [1969] Focus grip became shorter and got more embossed concave knurled sections (called short or small grip, 'Berg-und-Tal' in german). Switch from slot-head screws to cross-head.
MC-X [late 1972] Rubber focussing grip (R:# is checker row count), black aperture ring.
Lenses aimed for the north american market got the appendix '-X' right after the Rokkor name on the front marking, colored in orange:

Lenses with 52mm filter thread became 55mm. The standard lenses got the focal length marking, as well. Undervariations:
i) painted red mount index (pMI) became a red plastic bead (bMI) [early '74];
ii) w/o two letter optical code (OC) on front ring [began '75];
iii) triangle and dot (Δ) mark for focus and aperture was replaced with new double-purpose diamond index (◊) [began '75];
iv) stop down lever was dropped [began '75].
MC Ce [????] Minolta Celtic: Low budget lens line, cheaper built and with simplier coatings and finer waffled rubber focussing grip (early variants with metal grip).
MD I [mid 1977] MC-X style with MD lug added. Smallest aperture was changed from f/16 to f/22 on most lenses. The focal length marking opposite to DOF scale was dropped. The serial number moved from front ring to barrel base (opposite to DOF scale).
MD II [mid 1978] Lenses became smaller and lighter, many with 55mm threads shrunk to 49mm. The metal aperture ring (mAR) was replaced with a plastic one (pAR). Front engraving changed:

Undervariation:
i) 'ROKKOR-X' engraving changed from orange to white.
MD Ce [1978] MD update of MC Celtics.
MD III [mid 1981] 'Plain MD' series: The name Rokkor was eliminated from the front engraving. Aperture lock for smallest aperture added. Ft-scale changed from green to amber, focal length marking on barrel shifted right next to mounting bead, aperture/focussing index changed from diamond to line, larger mounting index, focus grip with finer waffle pattern, front engraving 'Lens made in Japan' shortened to 'Japan'. Filter ring with groove for clip-on shade. Undervariation:
i) Bayonet with X-600 pin added (04-1983)
MD IIIa [1985?]: Last MD series lenses, propably built by Cosina. Optically and mechanically considerably below Rokkor standards, no aperture lock.
Leitz lenses: Photare fitted via M-Adapter, Telyt was equipped with SR bayonet.
